In 2015, the GACD launched its third call for research proposals. Implementation research proposals were requested to address lung diseases as related to environmental exposures, including indoor and outdoor air pollution, and tobacco. This initiative focuses on research in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and/or with targeted populations in high-income countries (HICs).
Proposals had to focus on chronic, non-communicable lung diseases and have an emphasis on research into implementation of prevention and/or management strategies derived from existing knowledge and research.
While the primary focus of the initiative is on NCDs such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Lung Cancer or Asthma, some studies may also address co-morbidities in cases where a research site is located where there are co-morbidities with infectious lung diseases.

Funding has either already been awarded and research is currently ongoing or funding agencies are currently finalising their funding decisions. You can find more information about the funded projects here.
