I am an Assistant Professor in Medical Gastroenterology at JIPMER (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research), Puducherry, India — a central government medical institute equivalent to AIIMS, and ICMR-eligible. JIPMER serves a large, predominantly low-income South Indian population and provides specialist gastroenterology care free of charge, making it a high-volume centre for underserved NCD populations.

I am seeking an implementation science lead from an NHMRC- or CIHR-eligible institution (Australia or Canada) to jointly develop a proposal for the 11th GACD Multisectoral Approaches call under the ICMR joint-funding pathway (~USD 220,000 for India-based activities).

My clinical research programme covers three NCD domains with direct implementation relevance: (1) pancreatic disease, including type 3c (pancreatogenic) diabetes arising from chronic pancreatitis — predominantly idiopathic or genetic in aetiology in our population — a condition substantially underdiagnosed and misclassified as type 2 diabetes in community settings; (2) metabolic liver disease (MASLD) and cirrhosis, with a large cohort of patients first presenting late due to absent community-level screening; and (3) portal hypertension in young non-cirrhotic patients from low-income backgrounds, an underserved group with no structured community care pathway.

What I offer: defined clinical cohorts, ICMR co-funding eligibility, high specialist volumes. What I am seeking: an established implementation science team to lead the research design, frameworks, and multisectoral intervention strategy, with JIPMER as the Indian clinical anchor and validation site.

Please contact me to explore whether our complementary expertise could support a joint application.

Hello everyone. I work as a medical scientist with the Indian Council of Medical Research, and I manage a Model Rural Health Research Unit in southern Odisha, India. I am a clinical researcher and primarily work in geriatric public health, focusing on implementation research and interventional studies.

We are building a proposal to apply for the multisectoral interventions call. The intervention is being developed as a task-shifting care model around osteoarthritis knee management of older people, in rural primary health care settings.

We will be applying to the Indian Council of Medical Research, one of the partner agencies, for this call. This requires us to collaborate with an organisation or institution that can apply to their country's funding agency. This is the requirement of the co-funding nature of this call.

We request interested institutions, organisations, and researchers to please reach out at the email provided here so that we can discuss the best suitable way ahead.

    Looking forward to hearing back.

Subject: Invitation to collaborate – GACD 2026 multisectoral implementation research proposal on breast and cervical cancer in SSA
    Dear Colleagues,
I am an associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncologist, and Epidemiologist (MPH), based at an academic and tertiary center in Ethiopia. I am currently leading the development of a Stage 1 concept note for the GACD 2026 call on multisectoral implementation research. This initiative seeks to maximize collaboration and coordination across sectors, extending beyond the health system, to address chronic non-communicable diseases.
Our proposal focuses on generating evidence on the effectiveness, implementation performance, and scalability of a community-based, digitally supported, multisectoral model for the early detection and treatment of breast and cervical cancer within primary health care (PHC). Community health workers will serve as the cornerstone of this model.
Breast and cervical cancers together account for more than half of all cancers among women in Ethiopia and across much of Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in Eastern and Southern regions. Tragically, most cases are diagnosed at late stages, leaving few treatment options and resulting in poor outcomes. Contributing factors include limited awareness, sociocultural barriers, weak infrastructure, shortages of skilled personnel, and fragmented referral systems. These challenges continue to undermine the health and productivity of women in their prime years, impacting families, communities, and national development. Addressing these cancers is therefore not only a health priority but also a strategic investment in safeguarding the lives and contributions of millions of women across the region.
Our team brings together researchers and multisectoral representatives from institutions in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Zimbabwe. The concept note is already well advanced and now requires refinement and finalization for submission. We are seeking collaborators for the Stage 1 proposal, specifically:
    • Academic partners eligible to serve as PI or Co-PI from Australia and South Africa, along with their funding agencies
    • Implementation scientists with expertise in NCDs and health economics
    • Colleagues with experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, which will be particularly valuable
We would be delighted to connect with interested partners to explore alignment and co-develop a competitive proposal.
    Best regards,
    Shimelis Fantu Gebresilasie (MD)

    Dear colleagues,
I am a public health intelligence specialist working in the WHO African Region, focusing on surveillance systems, epidemic intelligence, and the use of data for decision-making in emergency and routine health contexts.
I am currently developing a concept for the GACD 2026 call that aims to leverage Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) systems to strengthen community-based detection and response for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in African settings.
While NCDs are included within the IDSR framework, their operationalization, particularly at the community level, remains limited. This project will explore how community-based surveillance in the context of IDSR can be adapted to enable early detection of NCD-related events (e.g. hypertension and diabetes complications), generate actionable public health intelligence,
and strengthen the linkage between detection and response at the community and primary care levels.
The study will apply an implementation science approach to evaluate feasibility, effectiveness, and scalability, with strong emphasis on underserved populations and multisectoral engagement.
I am seeking collaborators for a Stage 1 proposal, including:
    • Academic partners eligible to serve as PI (Canada/UK/EU),
    • Implementation scientists with experience in NCDs,
    • Country-level partners (Ministries of Health, NGOs, community-based organisations),
    • Researchers with expertise in community health, health systems, or digital health.
Experience in sub-Saharan Africa is particularly relevant.
I would be glad to connect with interested partners to explore alignment and co-develop a competitive proposal.

    Kind regards,

    George Sie Williams

I am seeking an academic lead (NPA) and aligned collaborators for a potential GACD 2026 Stage 1 proposal exploring whether a bounded individualized longitudinal interpretation layer could support CKD or other chronic disease follow up in underserved populations.

In many chronic disease pathways, important signals build up over time across home monitoring, routine diagnostics, symptoms, and care context, yet remain difficult to review, interpret, and prioritize consistently. I have developed an early stage reasoning and decision support layer, PI, designed to help interpret sparse, irregular, longitudinal health data at the individual level. PI is intended as a conservative, non disruptive support layer for research, pilot, and partner evaluation settings rather than autonomous clinical use.

I would be glad to connect with academic, clinical, implementation science, and community based collaborators interested in CKD, hypertension, cardiometabolic disease, remote monitoring, personalized follow up, or chronic disease implementation research.

    Mavis Amegah-Dorr

    info@ghanabloodpressure.org

My name is Mavis Amegah-Dorr, founder of the Ghana Hypertension Screening Initiative (GHSI). GHSI is a community-based hypertension screening and 12-month follow-up model targeting trotro drivers and market women at transport hubs and marketplaces in Greater Accra, Ghana. The model brings screening to where informal sector workers already spend their days and tracks every person screened at Days 14, 30, 90, 180, and 365 through a physician referral network and digital follow-up using the Simple app (WHO-recommended). Three of six screening events are parish-based health fairs in partnership with the Archdiocese of Accra. Training curricula combine Dr. Jennifer Downs’ NIH-funded Tanzania religious leader curriculum and Dr. Monika Safford’s Patient Activated Learning System (Weill Cornell Medicine) for the first time in a single program. All operational infrastructure is complete. The pilot is on track for December 2026, targeting 1,000 screenings.

    We are seeking:

An academic PI based in Ghana or another LMIC with experience in NCD implementation research to co-lead a Stage 1 application.

A biostatistician or implementation scientist with experience in study design for community-based NCD interventions.

Partners in Ghana, Kenya, and the United States are confirmed. Curricula will be released as open-source resources after pilot validation.

CALL FOR CANADIAN RESEARCH PARTNERS – GACD MULTISECTORAL SALT REDUCTION PROJECT (TANZANIA)
    Dear Colleagues,
I hope this message finds you well.
My name is Dr. Anselm Patrick Moshi, Chief Research Scientist at the Tanzania Food and Nutrition Centre (TFNC). We are seeking Canadian research partners to collaborate on a proposal for the Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases (GACD) Multisectoral Approaches Call.
Our proposed project, titled “Implementing WHO-Recommended Multisectoral Salt Reduction Strategies through Food SMEs and Youth Food Environments in Tanzania (SALTA-TZ01),” aims to implement and evaluate a scalable model to reduce population-level salt intake beyond the healthcare system. The intervention addresses key structural drivers of excess sodium consumption by focusing on two main components: (1) reformulation of sodium content in foods produced by small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and (2) behavioural interventions targeting adolescents in school and community settings.
The study will apply a mixed-methods, quasi-experimental design across diverse settings (urban, peri-urban, and rural), guided by RE-AIM and CFIR frameworks. Primary outcomes include changes in sodium intake (measured through 24-hour urinary sodium) and blood pressure, alongside implementation outcomes such as adoption, reach, fidelity, and sustainability. Equity considerations are central, with a strong focus on underserved populations.
This initiative aligns closely with WHO “Best Buys” and Sustainable Development Goal 3.4, and is designed to generate real-world, policy-relevant evidence with strong potential for scalability and transferability across low- and middle-income countries.
We are particularly interested in collaborating with Canadian institutions eligible to apply as lead applicants under the GACD call. We welcome partners with expertise in implementation science, nutrition, NCD prevention, food systems, behavioural science, or health policy.
TFNC and our in-country partners will contribute extensive experience in nutrition research, field implementation, and policy engagement in Tanzania.
If your institution is interested in exploring this collaboration, we would be delighted to connect and further discuss alignment and next steps.
Thank you for your consideration, and we look forward to the possibility of working together.

Dr. Amanuel Lomencho, Emerald Medical Consultancy, Ethiopia

    alomencho@emeraldethiopia.com

    Greetings colleagues,

Emerald Medical Consultancy is a firm with over 12 years of experience in Ethiopia’s health landscape. We specialize in fostering local and international collaboration to design and implement health and environmental projects.

Our firm's alignment with the 11th GACD Call priorities:

    • Multisectoral networks: We engage across government, private sector, NGOs, civil society, and faith-based groups — directly reflecting the call’s emphasis on settings beyond healthcare (schools, workplaces, communities, urban spaces, etc.).
    • Implementation research experience: We have participated in previous GACD Calls and consortia.
    • Equitable partnerships: Our collaborations balance local leadership with international expertise, aligning with the call’s requirement for equitable HIC-LMIC partnerships.
    • Stakeholder engagement: We maintain strong ties with Ethiopian ministries, community organizations, and civil society, ensuring sustainability pathways beyond the grant cycle.
    • Capacity building: We have a group of early-career researchers and are committed to including them as co-investigators, fulfilling the call’s requirement for meaningful involvement.
    • Local relevance: We can co-create proposal ideas tailored to Ethiopia’s (and other LMIC) context, addressing social and structural determinants of NCDs such as diet, physical activity, and health beliefs.

    Our current focus:

We are exploring the 11th GACD Call on multisectoral approaches to NCD prevention and control. Our idea leverages Ethiopian community settings — schools, workplaces, and faith-based organizations — and primary health care system to expand prevention, screening, and management of NCDs.

We are eager to connect with collaborators—both local and international—to co-develop innovative, context-sensitive proposals that respond effectively to the call’s priorities.

    Hi,

I am a Research Fellow at The George Institute for Global Health in Australia, working across two programs:

    • Implementation Research for Health Equity
    • Guunu Maana (Heal), our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health program

I also co-lead The George Institute's Ubuntu Initiative, which focuses on building culturally safe, long-term partnerships with organisations in African countries (https://www.georgeinstitute.org/our-research/areas/ubuntu-initiative).

I am looking to connect with African research organisations that have strong relationships with community groups, health advocates and policy actors. My work is grounded in theory-driven implementation science that takes complexity and local context seriously. I am interested in partnerships that embraces multidisciplinary groups and creates clear mutual benefit for both organisations.

I see these grant opportunities as a way to build sustained relationships, not short project collaborations, and to work alongside the community groups and practitioners who continue to drive knowledge translation beyond the life of a grant.

If this aligns with your organisation’s interests, feel free to contact me via the email above.

    Kind regards,
    Yakubu

    Dr. Mitiku Bonsa Debela

    mitikubonsa8@gmail.com

Hello, I am Dr. Mitiku Bonsa Debela (Ph.D. in Public Health and Epidemiology), Corporate Director of Research and Community Services at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Madda Walabu University, Ethiopia.

I am currently leading a Hybrid Type II Effectiveness–Implementation Trial focused on Integrating Implementation Science with a Machine‑Learning–based Risk Prediction Model for Esophageal Cancer in the Bale, East Bale, and West Arsi Zones of Oromia, Ethiopia.

This initiative seeks partnerships and funding from stakeholders interested in collaborating and supporting our work. Esophageal cancer is surging in the regions mentioned above and demands a collective multisectoral and multidisciplinary approach for effective prevention, detection, and management.

    Why this matters:

Esophageal cancer, particularly squamous cell carcinoma, is notably prevalent in the Arsi and Bale Zones of Oromia, with cases often presenting at advanced stages.

Epidemiological data indicate a high incidence with demographic patterns showing elevated rates among younger females.

A tailored risk prediction model, informed by local contexts and implementation science, can dramatically improve early detection and intervention.

I look forward to discussing collaboration opportunities to make a meaningful impact on esophageal cancer outcomes in Oromia.

    Justo Lorenzo Bermejo

    lorenzo@imbi.uni-heidelberg.de

My name is Justo LORENZO BERMEJO and I lead the Statistical Genetics Research Group at Heidelberg University in Germany.

In our group, we are considering the possibility of preparing a project proposal for the upcoming Horizon Europe call HORIZON-HLTH-2025-01-DISEASE-06: Implementation research addressing strategies to strengthen health systems for equitable high-quality care and health outcomes in the context of non-communicable diseases (GACD).

The main objective of our project would be to improve equity in access to cholecystectomy in both Europe and Latin America - we have collected data and samples prior to cholecystectomy from ~12.000 Chilean, Peruvian and Bolivian patients with gallstone disease within the EULAT Eradicate GBC project.

Preliminary title of the project: Strengthening equitable access to cholecystectomy - A European-Latin American implementation research collaboration.

    We plan to:

    • Identify barriers and facilitators in access to cholecystectomy
    • Develop interventions using a participatory approach
    • Evaluate their cost-effectiveness in underserved populations
    • Translate project results into policy recommendations

Basically, we are thinking of several interventions to reduce inequalities in cholecystectomy (e.g., poorer access for immigrants in Europe, and for indigenous people in Latin America):

    • Before the patient sees a doctor: Educational campaigns through immigrant/indigenous representatives
    • When the patient approaches her family physician: education of family physicians, translation of brochures on gallstone disease into native languages
    • Between the family physician and the hospital: AI-based prioritization of waiting lists
    • After cholecystectomy: multi-channel educational intervention on healthy lifestyle, physical activity and cancer screening

Chile has a large diaspora in Sweden, and maybe you could design and evaluate interventions for Latin American immigrants?

These are just initial ideas, we are open to suggestions. In particular, we would need support from health implementation researchers.

Thank you in advance and kind regards from Heidelberg,

    Dear all,

Emerald Medical is a registered health organization in Ethiopia engaged in non-communicable diseases advocacy, clinical and project work.

We are writing to express our keen interest in the GACD funding call and to inquire about potential collaboration opportunities. With over 8 years experience in providing clinical and public health services both in Ethiopia and overseas, we believe we are a strong candidate in forming international consortia.

We have established strong partnerships with renowned universities in Ethiopia, including Addis Ababa University and Hawassa University. These collaborations have allowed us to foster a fruitful exchange of knowledge and expertise in our shared goal of advancing healthcare research and practice. Additionally, we maintain excellent working relations with non-communicable diseases unit of The Federal Ministry of Health in Ethiopia, further strengthening our ability to contribute to national healthcare initiatives and address key health challenges.

As an experienced clinician and researcher in Internal Medicine and non-communicable diseases, I believe that partnering with like-minded individuals and organizations is crucial for addressing the complex challenges outlined in the funding call.

We bring a strong background in clinical and public health approaches to NCD control, and we are eager to contribute our skills and knowledge to collaborative projects that align with the goals and objectives of the GACD. We are open to exploring potential partnerships and would be looking forward to finding suitable collaborators for this funding opportunity.

Thank you for considering our request, and I look forward to hearing from likeminded collaborators.

I am writing to you as an associate professor of health systems and public health leadership at Mutah University in Jordan. I have been working as a consultant for the World Health Organization (WHO) on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and primary health care (PHC). My aim is to reduce the cases of NCDs and to improve treatment via an integrative multidisciplinary approach.

As you may know, NCDs have become a growing concern worldwide, and Jordan is no exception. We are facing significant challenges in addressing NCDs, particularly in coordinating efforts among various health organizations, including the Ministry of Health (MoH) and private sector. Therefore, we are currently working on a proposal to pilot the coordination of NCDs prevention and management by PHC.

To make this proposal a success, we are seeking collaborations with experts from developed countries who have experience in NCDs prevention and control. We believe that your expertise could be a valuable addition to our team. We are very interested in working with you to establish a system that integrates efforts and services of all health organizations to be all committed to NCD prevention and management.

We hope to have the opportunity to discuss our proposal with you further and explore potential collaborations. I am also opened for any proposals regarding the NCDs management and control.

    Altaye H Kidane

    altayemeti@gmail.com

My name is Dr Altaye Habtegiorgis Kidane who is a Physician with post graduate training in the immunology of infectious diseases with a vast experience in managing large scale public health programs. I have more than 25 years of clinical and public health experience with a focus on HIV, TB MDR-TB and noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). I have managed large scale TB/HIV projects in both Eswatini and in Ethiopia with proven results. I have worked with ICAP, Columbia University, Mailman School of Public Health in the Kingdom of Eswatini since 2012 – first as its Senior Clinical Advisor, and currently as the Technical Director of Clinical HIV/TB services. A significant part of my work is in close collaboration with the Kingdom of Eswatini’s National Aids Program, and the National Tuberculosis Control Program where I provide central-level technical assistance under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) to strengthen local capacity in delivering sustainable quality-assured universal coverage of clinical HIV/TB services in Manzini Region. I have supported ICAP’s technical assistance to the Eswatini Ministry of Health to decentralize TB/HIV care and treatment services in 112 health facilities, and integrate mental health, family planning and NCDs. During my tenure as the Technical Director for FHI360 in Ethiopia, I contributed extensively to national efforts to revise and develop guidelines and training materials for care and treatment of HIV/AIDS, TB and sexually transmitted infections; and supported the decentralization of diagnosis and treatment services for TB/HIV across the country. I have a demonstrated record of successful and productive implementation of TB/ HIV programs; providing clinical care to patients with HIV related complication; and research design and implementation of projects centering on HIV and related conditions in Zambia, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Lesotho, and Eswatini.

My most recent work looks at next steps in global strategies especially on the intersection of HIV and non-communicable diseases. As more individuals on ART are growing older, age-related diseases could impact the life span of individuals living with HIV. The additional effect of HIV to accelerate ageing could as well produce additive effect. I am keen to be involved in applied research related to the above topic/s and I am interested in working together with principal investigators/ research institutions who might be interested in mentoring me and working collaboratively on similar projects.
