GACD events are an opportunity for like-minded people and teams to exchange ideas, share experiences, and contribute to ongoing conversations in implementation science and global health. GACD is committed to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion across our events and activities.

To create and sustain a supportive environment that encourages civil and productive communication, we reserve the right to suspend access to GACD events, temporarily or permanently, for anyone who violates the code of conduct. If you have any questions, please contact GACD via admin@gacd.org.

By participating in a GACD event (online or in-person), you agree that you have read and will follow these guidelines.

Guidelines and etiquette

  • Respectful communication: We expect all participants to engage in respectful communication, both in-person and online. Any defamatory, abusive, threatening, or offensive behaviour is strictly prohibited. The discussions and comments are meant to stimulate connection, not to create contention. If you experience any defamatory, abusive, threatening, or offensive behaviour from another participant (e.g. through a direct message on a virtual meeting chat box or during a networking break) please inform the GACD team immediately – either via email, direct message during the online meeting, or in-person.

  • Cultural sensitivity: We encourage attendees to be mindful and respectful of cultural differences that may exist among participants.

  • Let others have their say, just as you may: The GACD team will endeavour to ensure group discussions and audience participation are appropriately moderated, but we kindly ask you to assist us with your patience.

  • Intellectual integrity: We uphold the principles of intellectual integrity, including honesty, transparency, and fair attribution in all presentations, discussions, and research activities.

  • Maintain privacy: Do not publish the meeting invite information where anyone can see or find it. Participation in GACD events is by invitation only.

  • Punctuality: Attend events on time out of respect to speakers, other participants, and the organisers.

  • Mutual agreement: Depending on the nature of the event and sensitivity of the topic, further guidelines may come in the form of a ‘meeting agreement’, co-developed by participants at the start of the event. Participants are expected to respect and abide by such agreements.

Online events

  • Please ensure your device microphone is muted unless you wish to speak to prevent unintended background noise.

  • Update your virtual meeting screen name to include your name and location (and preferred pronouns, if you wish).

  • We encourage event participants to use the virtual meeting chat box to contribute to discussions and ask questions that are within the scope of the event. Please abide by our guidelines when communicating through this function.

  • Do not use our events – including the chat box function or participant lists – to promote or advertise any goods and/or services.

In-person events

  • Please wear your name badge throughout the event. This is to facilitate introductions and networking, as well as creating a friendlier environment.

  • GACD events (online and in-person) are likely to be recorded in full or partially. This is for the purpose of knowledge sharing beyond the live event for those who are unable to attend. Recordings may be available to the Research Network only OR publicly available – you will be advised on the details for the event you are attending at the start.

  • Keep mobile devices on silent mode during sessions.

  • Limit phone usage to emergencies or breaks. If you must use your phone, step away from the group to avoid disrupting others.

  • Prioritise the in-person interactions over digital distractions.

  • Give full attention to the speaker and avoid interrupting.

  • Offer feedback or other comments in a positive and constructive manner.

  • Express differing opinions calmly and professionally, avoiding personal attacks.

  • If you would like to have a private conversation with a delegate, organiser, or observer, do so in a quiet corner of a common space, rather than going to a personal room.

  • Be conscious of others in shared spaces like break rooms, lounges, or common areas.

  • Allow others their privacy and do not enter their personal space or use their personal belongings (unless explicitly invited to do so).
