Former Executive Director of UNAIDS, Peter Piot, has published an article in the Huffington Post about the need to find appropriate responses to the ‘time bomb’ of non-communicable diseases.
He argues that much can be learned from AIDS that can help leaders design effective and sustainable responses to NCDs. For example, health systems that have been set up to deal with HIV/AIDS care and treatment could be strengthened to help address the growing problem of chronic diseases in developing countries.
