UKWG Survey: NCD prevention and management in LMICs using a life course approach

January 21, 2022

Published in News

The UK Working Group on NCDs is conducting an online survey to find out more about how organisations working on the prevention and treatment of NCDs in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) understand and utilise the life course approach in their work.

The UKWG is a network of over 20 UK-based national and international NGOs and research organisations, which work together to draw attention to the urgent need to address the burden of NCDs as an international development priority. It is a member of the NCD Alliance.

GACD is one of the representative organisations from within the working group leading on data collection for this survey, along with NCD Child and Worldwide Hospice Palliative Care Alliance. We are interested in hearing from representatives from organisations globally that focus on the prevention and treatment of NCDs about:

  • their views on the life course approach (including if they have never heard of this term).

  • their experiences of adopting this approach into implementing health services, advocacy campaigns, research, policymaking and/or other projects.

Please complete this survey by Monday 31 January 2022 (it should take no longer than 15 minutes.) Anonymised findings will be published in a report, which will be available from the end of March 2022 on the UKWG website. This report will be shared with policymakers and researchers.

The survey is available here.

If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Alyssa Chase-Vilchez, programme manager, Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases.

We are also currently accepting applications for implementation research projects that take a life course approach to preventing and reducing common NCD risk factors in LMICs and in disadvantaged populations in high-income countries. Multidisciplinary, international teams comprised of both researchers and non-researchers are encouraged to apply. Unless otherwise noted, the deadline is 31 May 2022.
